Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 Remake is a mostly faithful recreation of Team Silent’s 2001 classic Silent Hill 2, barring a few changes, including adding new collectables such as glimpses of the past and Strange Photos. Silent Hill 2 Remake’s Strange Photos are littered throughout the town in a number of peculiar places and are tied to a pretty tricky trophy called Pieces Unarranged, which requires you to collect all of them in a single playthrough. Having finished Silent Hill 2 Remake, I can tell you from personal experience that you’re unlikely to find all of them in one sitting without a guide, as they’re hidden in some pretty rogue spots that can demand a lot of backtracking or, in some cases, undoing a puzzle to input an alternate solution.
In this guide, let me walk you through the location of every Strange Photo. I believe there are 26 in total (given that this is the number listed on the back of the final polaroid). I’ve also created a video guide, linked below, which you can refer to if the written hints aren’t helping.
How to find Strange Photos in Silent Hill 2 Remake
Silent Hill 2 Remake’s Strange Photos pop up in the most unexpected places, and no visual indicators or audio cues denote that one is nearby. One tip I used during my second playthrough is activating High Contrast mode in the Display & Graphics settings and then picking a bright colour like Green or Magenta for the Environmental Interactables & Save Points Color. With that activated, the Strange Photos will be illuminated for you to find as you wander around the map, running twice into every door just in case. In the Gameplay Accessibility settings, you can also change the Interaction Icon Size to Huge, making the polaroids easier to spot.
Without further ado, let’s get into the list. I’ve formatted it chronologically because the numbers on the back of each Strange Photo are not sequential. For example, you get Strange Photo 3 during the Labyrinth section near the very end of the game.

How to unlock the Pieces Unarranged trophy in Silent Hill 2 Remake
To unlock the Pieces Unarranged achievement in Silent Hill 2 Remake, you must collect every Strange Photo in one playthrough. I’d recommend doing this after you complete the game once because you’ll have access to the chainsaw, which you can find on the road into Silent Hill after meeting Angela for the first time. The chainsaw can kill enemies in one hit on light combat difficulty and trivialises most boss battles. I’d also suggest toning down the combat and puzzle difficulty or just writing down the numeric solutions to puzzles to help make your playthrough quicker. However, bear in mind that if you speed through the puzzles, completing them without going through the motions will lock off certain areas of the map, which may be detrimental to your search.
